I've found a new burst of Energy!!

What a week I’ve had. I’ve been really working on my stand-up, which I thought was foolish as my groundwork suffers but it’s turned out really well as I’m very happy with my striking now. I’ve been able to set people up using my stand-up for the perfect opportunity to shoot and takedown. As well as my ground work, I will also now concentrate on my shoots as they’re not as easy as you would think and they don’t come naturally to me.

Also I had the opportunity to see one of my instructors fight for the first time and by no means did he disappoint. I went to the South West Fighting Championship 2 with my colleague and friends in Torquay. This was in a nightclub called The Venue and although a bit restricted with space, the atmosphere certainly made up for it. It was a great night and the fighters were really good as you would expect. I did find that a lot of the fighters were suffering from a lack of cardio. I’ve not been in the cage before but I’ve had many fights in front of audiences and some for England, so I know that the adrenaline builds up and can zap your energy very quickly. But one has to take this into account when training to compete. You can guarantee that your opponent will have trained hard and expect him to be in the best shape he has ever been. Therefore, we too have to train hard and expect to fight for the entire length of the match at full throttle, otherwise, get out of the cage and get back to the gym till you can.

I can’t preach too much as my cardio is not the best and needs some work but by following simple dietary rules and some basic advice, you can change the way your body reacts to pressure and physical fatigue. I struggle allot, so I asked the expert on the MMA Prospects UK website and his advice was the best yet. I watch what I eat a lot more and have been on some of the endurance and recovery drinks that he advised. I love training and it got to a point when I thought that I couldn’t give it anymore. But the advice that he gave was priceless. I got to the end of a couple of classes last week and looked at my mate to see him gasping and saying he was done. I still had loads of energy left and was able to do a few more rounds if I needed to. This is very unusually as my friend that I was there with is really fit and it’s usually the other way around. He is now trying the drinks I take! Let’s see.

It’s been a good couple of weeks.
